Care Not Cops = DEFUND the Police

To be clear: Berkeley Copwatch and Justice 4 Kayla Moore have been calling for Care Not Cops since she was killed in 2013. It is time for Berkeley City Council to stand up to the Police Officers Association and rewrite our response to community safety needs. MOST of what Berkeley's overpaid officers do could be done better and cheaper by trained and experienced civilians. However, too often when we dare to question them, they threaten to withhold service completely. No more extortion. Defund the police.
